In the first assignment we will introduce ourselves in the following manner:
1) Do a one-line portrait of your real self (head and shoulders). Use a thick black pen like a Sharpie or marker or black felt pen. One-line means you don't pick up your pen from the page until you are done. OK to go over lines and retrace back. (sign with your made up club name*) *See below
2) Make another drawing or painting on a separate sheet of paper of your "club character" (who you will be in this club) Can be a person, monster, animal, anything your imagination invents. Dress up your character in clothes or jewelry or both if you wish. Give yourself a name and sign it on your painting.
Write a few lines about your club character (can also be true of you but doesn't have to be) like favorite color or food anything you would like to say.
Below are first the oneline portraits followed by the "club characters".
Haystack lives near open fields and pasture land and this summer watched and heard the heavy equipment baling hay into huge squares or rounds. From one day to the next, the long grass she became so familiar with was gone and life in the field was turned upside. So she understood there are some parts of the world where the farmer does not have heavy equipment and the hay is still made into a stack. It is a remarkable feat to make correctly - to pack the hay tightly so as not to allow moisture, which rots the grass and makes it inedible for the animals, is not easy. Haystack - fields and pastureland.
